Nailing Adolescent Counselling: Small Group Masterclass

Nailing Adolescent Counselling:
Small Group Masterclass

10am-1pm (AEST)
Friday, 26th July 2024
Online, Australia-wide via Zoom
3 hours CPD

A 3-hour Intensive Professional Development Masterclass for mental health professionals

With Counsellor Ellie Rose

Adolescent counselling can often feel like climbing a mountain (challenging) and being in the desert (lost), all at once.

Join us in this 3 hour, small group masterclass, where I will share my best practical tips and evidence-based insights from my years of specialising in adolescent therapy.

Most clinicians feel overwhelmed, confused or frustrated with supporting their teenage clients.
Am I doing enough? Am I doing it in the right way?
What is the best way to connect with youth when there are generational gaps?

These questions come as no surprise, given that adolescents need specific, informed and tailored approaches + skills that go beyond what we were taught in our basic training.

Which is why I have created an intimate, small group training for fellow mental health professionals to get to the heart of what really works when counselling teens.

You will have the undivided attention of myself and your fellow counsellors for 3 hours, as we explore the foundations of adolescent counselling with practical strategies and practice applying them with the use of case studies.
Our time will allow for individual coaching and question exploration to ensure your needs are fully met.

You will leave the masterclass with:

  • 3 CPD hours (A certificate of attendance will be provided upon completion)

  • Practical strategies and techniques to use with your teen clients right away, to navigate issues in the therapy room such as rapport building, client resistance and risk taking behaviours

  • Evidence-based frameworks and engaging therapy session ideas and activities that work with adolescents,
informed by counselling 100’s of teens and families

  • A foundational understanding on how to skilfully include families, schools and communities in the adolescent therapeutic process

  • Testimony from teens who have been in therapy - To fill you in on what teens in 2024 want and how to attune to them, no matter the generational differences

What we will explore:

  • Foundational adolescent biological and social development to inform our practice, as teens are biologically and socially distinct from any other client population and require a curated approach

  • The common mistakes that you may not realise you are making with your teen clients (such as struggling to build rapport, doing “too much”, not including families in the process) and the strategies to combat these mistakes

  • Tried-and-tested techniques that work with (not against!) their unique developmental needs, to effectively meet what teens want in therapy

  • Impactful rapport-building techniques and practical strategies for working with challenging issues, such as power struggles and “taboo” conversations

All in a small group setting, so that we can go deep with
skill building, individual case study supervision and networking.

Are you a mental health professional who is..

★ New or inexperienced in counselling adolescents

★ Feeling overwhelmed or unsupported while you do your best to navigate the rough seas of teen counselling

★ Wants to up-skill in adolescent counselling from beginner + nervous to a skilled + confident practitioner

★ Working in isolation or feeling unsupported by your workplace and wish for more professional guidance, support and connection

You have found the right place… this is for you!

Still unsure if this masterclass is for you?
Here’s what past group members have said…

“I would highly recommend this training to both novice and seasoned clinicians
working within the youth space.”

“This training took me back to the pillars of success when working with adolescent clients.
Ellie made it simple to understand and linked everything back to research and evidence.”

“I really took a lot away from today which I can now use in my practice. I think the framework Ellie has created is wonderful and I LOVE the concept behind Cocoon.”

Why this workshop is different..

  • This is an intentionally curated, small group for professionals to receive live coaching from me, whilst we connect as a group to tackle teen counselling

Unlike other PD events, attendance has been limited to foster a community atmosphere, offering networking opportunities, live supervision, and tailored support to enhance the effectiveness of mental health professionals in working with adolescents

  • We will cover a multitude of real, practical applications that you can use with clients right away and feel confident in doing so

I have attended way too many PD events as a participant where I felt I didn’t receive any practical solutions and contained hours of filler content I probably already knew..
So, I have condensed my expertise, research, experience and teen testimony on what really works - into 3 hours to create the most helpful workshop where you get the most out of your time
